Generator installation, service, and maintenance is the newest addition to our broadening scope of practice. We are a licensed distributor of Generac™ automatic standby and portable generators. When bad weather hits and the power goes out, you can rely on Generac™ generators to be there when you need them. They can be a convenience during a short power outage, or save you thousands of dollars in repairs during an extended power outage.
Already have a generator? When was the last time that you heard it turn on? Normally, generators cycle automatically once a week. If you haven’t heard anything recently, it may be a good time to schedule some maintenance by our factory certified technicians. We recommend annual maintenance on all or our equipment, and generators are no exception; without periodic maintenance, you cannot be 100% certain that your generator will perform properly if the power goes out. During maintenance, we replace air filters, spark plugs, oil, and oil filters, and provide a complete safety check and load test.
Only a qualified technician, with the proper tools, can be relied on to correctly perform service. Don’t be fooled by incompetent technicians. Be sure to check the Generac™ website for local qualified companies.

Benefits of Investing in a New Forced Air Heating System
What can a new system do for you?
Have you ever wondered what it would take to replace your old gas guzzling heating system with a new high efficiency furnace or boiler? As with any upgrade, there are new products available to our customers now that weren’t around ten years ago. For example, with current 96% efficiency units, out of every $1.00 you spend, $.96 of that dollar is being used to make your home more comfortable. If you have a Furnace manufactured before the year 2000, they are operating at a much lower efficiency, and you are likely throwing 20 cents or more of your dollar into the garbage.
The same logic applies to air conditioning; drastic changes in design and minimum efficiency standards have made air conditioning units much more efficient and affordable. The availability of higher efficiency units allows for cheaper air conditioning, making it easier to afford the luxury of a comfortable home throughout the year.
Ask us about our heat pump condensing units. You can use the same outdoor condensing unit that cools your home in the summer to help heat your home in the winter! Supplementing your heat with a condensing unit can help to lower heating costs.
Here are some other reasons why upgrading your home comfort equipment is a logical choice:
- - Up to 10 Part and labor warranties available.
- - Available energy rebates for Natural Gas customers.
- - Available tax rebates for equipment upgrades.
- - 1 year Club Membership Included in purchase of new system.
The quality of equipment installation is as important as the equipment itself. Making an informed decision on who to trust with your equipment installation can help you avoid costly repairs and issues in the future. Northwest Mechanical, Inc. has been installing and servicing quality equipment in Northern Michigan since 1994. We are a proud member of the Western Michigan Better Business Bureau, and are looking forward to helping with all of your HVAC needs.
A/C & Heat Pump Condensing Units
You might recall some really hot summer days, especially last year (2015). You may have even thought about how nice it would be to have the luxury of air conditioning in your home. Air conditioning units on the market currently have much higher efficiencies than older models, and with higher efficiency standards, air conditioning can be an affordable investment into your home comfort system. Our line of Amana condensing units are hard to beat. They are quiet, reliable, and look great. Amana condensing units are a great buy, with price tags that are affordable and warranties that surpass competition.
Condensing units are a great way to have the luxury of air conditioning in the summer while providing a supplement to your heat in the winter. They use refrigerant and electricity to cool your home in the summer and help heat your home in the winter, reducing the use of fossil fuels in the process. Condensers can be utilized whenever the outdoor temperature is over 20 degrees, and with newer efficiency models, the luxury of year round air conditioning doesn't have to break the bank.

There are many benefits of having a water softening system installed in your home. The most common reason for investing in soft water are water stains. Water stains are formed from minerals and deposits that are naturally found in water. Softening your water makes your glasses shine brighter, and clothing feel softer and last longer.
Reducing or eliminating hard water in your home has many benefits that are less noticeable. Your washing machine and dishwasher, for example, contain solenoids – sensitive parts that come into contact with water. Because it is less abrasive, soft water increases the operating life of your appliances, potentially saving you from costly repairs.
We install Water-Rite water softeners. Not only do they look good, but they have great warranties. This provides peace of mind that your initial investment on your water softener will be the only equipment cost for years to come.

Boilers are traditionally the most common way of heating a home this side of the 45th Parallel. Boilers utilize radiant heat by cycling heated water throughout your home and are a great way to produce a consistent, reliable heat.
Modulating boilers have been able to reach an efficiency of 95% and above. This type of boiler works only when it needs to, and only as hard as it needs to. By operating this way, modulating boilers drastically reduce fuel consumption. When combining your boiler with an indirect water heater, you can produce all the domestic hot water that you need with the same efficiency!
Not only do boilers work well, but they look great too! You may have seen boilers that sit on the ground and look like cube, taking up space in your mechanical room. Triangle Tube has designed a wall hanging boiler that looks clean, and takes up ¼ of the space as traditional boilers. They work even better than older boilers and can produce up to 399,000 Btu’s.
Wall hanging boilers are not for everyone though. For larger applications, we have traditional high output boilers that will keep up with the demands of large structures.
